The Stem Sailing DinghyThe stem sailing dinghy differs from the pram dinghy by having a traditional 'pointed' bow coming down to the keel line. It is commonly built from plywood or glassfibre, with a round bildge or chine profile, and can be found in a range of sizes from around 8ft to 16ft long. This encompasses all kinds of craft from basic harbour potterers to long distance cruising and camping dinghies and high performance racing class boats. A single piece mast and boom are common, otherwise known as the bermudan rig type. Depending on the size of the boat, it may set just a mainsail or a mainsail and jib. A lifting centreboard with centreboard case and a rudder with tiller are common standard features.
